Oh, The Weather Outside Is Fightful

Man, it's cold outside. The thermometer at the back said '0,' but the ends of my finers (great calculators of when cold turns to frostbite) were beginning to go numb. And that was before I stepped out of the house and into the garage!

Now, I know some of you folks in Alaska, regular readers of this blog, are chuckling among yourselves, saying words like.... "Sissy" ....and... "He has no clue what cold is!" You're sitting in your igloo, fishing through a hole in the ice, and laughing it up. Go ahead. It's still cold!

It all makes me look forward to a couple things. First, Spring is coming. There will come a period, in a about three months, when buds will appear on the trees, Robins will return, grass will green, and thunderstorms will replace snow storms. What a time that will be. Refreshing...renewal...blessings of newness. I can hardly wait.

But I also set my eyes on Paradise...the place where Jesus dwells...the home of the Father...the place where the city limit passes through a pearl...the land of pure rivers and eternal delight...the throne room, with all its glorious grace. Some call it heaven...some call it "up there." I call it home. It is a place...an actual place. Death does not exist there. No sickness. No arthritis. No bellyaches or belly aching. No guilt-driven regrets. No more battle with depravity. No degenerate behaviour. No complaining over who is politically correct enough to pray during the inaguration of the King. Just life, peace, renewal, refreshing, new challenges of creativity, perpetual joy and delight, NO SIN! Ah, come Lord Jesus, come!

Now, let me share a hope. I hope there is a special room in that New Jerusalem, a room separated from all the rest. I want it to be a place that one can visit, linger, and leave. In fact, the room should be totally unique, decorated in white, and freezing cold. It will house the icecicles, snowdrifts, and howling winds. And if a guy doesn't want to go there, he won't have to.

And you thought I was going to be spiritual!!!!
Have a wonderful Christmas wherever your winter wonderland happens to be.
Pastor Jim
